The move comes as the UK government unveiled plans to give the drug more powers to help people get and maintain an erection.
“This will give men more options to go about their lives, to keep it long enough for sex,” a spokesperson said.
“The new system will also allow for more convenient access to medicines and food, which can help men get the erectile dysfunction treatment they need,” she added.
Viagra will now be available over-the-counter from pharmacies, which are also licensed to sell the drug.
The erectile dysfunction drug has been nicknamed the ‘‘Viagra of the Year’ and has become synonymous with the ‘little blue pill’, although it has also been dubbed the ‘‘little blue pill’’ by some men.
